| Summary | 0001193: Add file extension of .FCStd* to supported file types | ||||
| Description | If FC would accept the .FCStd* (asterisk being a number, maybe 2 places) extension, it would be a snap to load a backup file from the FC folder. I use WinXP. I don't know about MAC and LINUX. Otherwise there is a lot of renaming going on. Not really efficient. | ||||

For me, I think that would be a bad idea. It is a safety factor that a user can not inadvertently open the wrong file. On some O/S (I think some versions of Windows) the file extensions are hidden by default. Hence the user could not easily see which is the backup file and which is not. There is nothing stopping a user to just "save as" and add a number or anything else to the working file name before the extension and thus create a back or history of the job. E.g. MyJob_1.fcstd, then MyJob_2.fcstd etc. I will close this ticket for now...if the lead developer disagree with me, we can re-open this. |
