Summary0001586: Create Consistent Selection for ASCII / Binary .stl File Export
DescriptionFrom the following forum thread:
http://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6837#p55220

From File -> Export -> Files of type -> Mesh formats ... , the user cannot choose to Export in either ASCII or Binary .stl file format.

However when using the GUI, it seems that only in the Mesh WB can a user export a .stl mesh file in either ASCII or Binary format. Here is is done by navigating to Meshes -> Export Mesh -> Files of Type ... and from the pop-up menu the user can select "Binary .stl" or "ASCII .stl".

So maybe when navigating to File -> Export -> Files of Type button -> Mesh Formats, the user gets a pop-up window for mesh formats similar to the pop-up from Mesh WB -> Meshes -> Export -> Files of Type.

This could be consistent across the appropriate WB's.

If you want to export ASCII STL via File > Export you must choose the extension .ast. Popping up a further dialog to query whether binary or ASCII is not only impossible to do from Mesh App but also annoying.

Therefore we have the specialized import/export commands in the Mesh workbench.
