| Summary | 0000557: FreeCAD 0.13 - Cylinder Issues | ||||
| Description | Ubuntu 10.04 FreeCAD 0.13 rev 5007 1. When defining a cylinder, if I define the base angle before defining the base axis, the cylinder won't follow the base angle when it gets defined. 2. Having defined the cylinder correctly (a cylinder passing through a cylinder [cut]), when I do an Intersection Boolean, only one hole shows. | ||||
| Additional Information | I am very new to FreeCAD. The above problems have occurred several times, but I don't know if the problem is specific to this file or systemic. P.S. This problem is posted to the forums because I couldn't find a Bug Report form. So far nobody in the forums who have read my post seems to know where to post bugs. | ||||

FreeCAD 0.13 has been updated to ver 5013, and the problem remains. |

I'm not sure which base axis and base angle you mean. Can you tell step by step what you do to create a cylinder, please? |

Forum post is the following: http://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2094&p=15134#p15134 I guess nobody was sober enough that day (Jan. 1st) to give you an answer! |

I believe Point 2. of this problem is a duplicate of bug 0000565, i.e. a bug in the OCC 6.3 kernel. As for Point 1., on my computer running Ubuntu 11.10 and latest version of FreeCAD PPA, changing base angle and base axis apparently do nothing to the cylinder. |

Ah, I think you are talking about the Angle and Axis of the placement which appears in the 'Base' group in the property editor. Note, the angle and axis there has nothing to do with the cylinder axis. This defines the placement (basically rotation and translation of the object). When changing the angle (while axis is the default (0,0,1)) you can see that the cylinder rotates around the z-axis. And changing the axis while angle is zero has of course no effect. Mathematically the rotation is around the given axis by the given angle. So, I don't see a bug here. |
