| Description | Hellow! I have installed Ubuntu 10.04.3 on DELL INSPIRON 8500 laptop. When I start FreeCAD and click "Create a new empty document" a new "Unnamed : 1" tab appears in right side of program's window with white square in tab's upper left corner. If I make left-click on it's border, where mouse pointer changes in view, pointer view freezes in same condition and system stops responding on mouse left and right clicks. Alt+Tab is not working also. Alt+F4 and Alt+Ctrl+Del works. Well the solution I've found for this time is or switch between tabs or to close Start Page by right-click -> Close. Then square disappears. Of course it would be nice to do it automatically, but in fact I do not yet if this white square should be there and what it gives. Thank you in advance! | ||||

Uh, you're using a really old version of FreeCAD -- I guess 0.10 or older. The bug you're describing was an issue with Qt (with the class QWorkspace). With version 0.11 we already switched to the new MDI framework of Qt and this fixed this problem. So, I strongly recommend you to switch to the recently released 0.12 or even our currently developed version 0.13 which you can easily install by using our PPA on Launchpad. |

In Ubuntu 10.04, the FreeCAD version is 0.9.2646 which is two years old. And that's FreeCAD years, like with dog years they go fast! ;-) There is no 0.12 deb package, so you better use one of the FreeCAD PPA. One is updated daily, the other approximately every 4-5 weeks. Already fixed in a previous version. Nothing to do for this. |
