| Summary | 0000603: "Insert view in drawing" comand inserts view at default setting of "direction" X=0 Y=0 Z =1 instead of current screen view | ||||
| Description | "Insert view in drawing" comand inserts view at default setting of "direction" X=0 Y=0 Z =1 instead of current screen view on the screen. It would be great if it adjusted direction to match the viewing direction seen on the screen, ( this may only happen for bolean subrated 3d objects, normal 3d objects seem ok, thanks as clear as mud sorry did my best? | ||||

Are you aware there's a new drawing view wizard in v0.13 unstable? It is much easier as you can create one multiple views in one go, and set parameters in the taskpanel. Once it's finalized and 0.13 comes out, the old create single view tool will be obsolete... |

I don't think this would be a desirable behaviour anyway... You will be most probably looking at your model from a random angle, in order to select it better, and that won't be the angle you want it on the sheet (in most case one of the basic orthogonal angles). In most cases it will be annoying to have to change your view before putting a view on the sheet, and it might even be disorientating (the view appearing at a place you don't expect on the sheet) I vote for leaving things as they are. It would be easy to make a small macro to "match View object to current 3D view" anyway. |

I'll close this as it is rather old and I think we won't do it, reopen if needed... |
