Summary0000770: FreeCAD crashes when exporting STEP file
DescriptionWhenever I try to export a 3D model created in Free-CAD as a STEP file, it crashes. I tried it in two 64-bit computers running Ubuntu 11.10 and it happens on both.
Additional InformationI'm using version 0.13, revision 1209. According to some previous bug reports it could be due to the coexistence of libopencascade and liboce but i do not have liboce installed in any of the two computers. When I installed freecad with "sudo apt-get install freecad" it installed libopencascade.

Also tried it in version 0.13, revision 1225 and still crashes. When I tested in version 0.11 the export to step file worked ok.

Tried it in Micro$oft Window$ 7 64 bit and FreeCAD 0.12(32-bit), rev.5284 and it worked ok. Still would prefer to have it working in Ubuntu :\

Which Step export do you use? That from within "CAD Formats" or Step 214?

It crashes when i use the export option from the file menu and choose the STEP 214.

try to use latest 0.13 - switch to part workbench and choose Part - export CAD. Also, when you import, use Part - import CAD - this imports colors nicely.

Werner, maybe it would be worth considering to get this from Part workbench to File - import.

Petar

I recently discovered a bug in OCC 64-bit. It crashes when importing a STEP with AP214. There is somewhere a bug in the OCAF framework of OCC.
The same file could be loaded with the 32-bit version. It might be the same/similar problem for exporting STEP AP214.

In oce-0.10.0 (which I assume is based on oce 6.5.3) the crash is fixed.

I think we leafe it open until the new occ version propagates...

All current Ubuntu versions now at least use OCC 6.5. So, this is fixed now.
