| Summary | 0000885: Union of meshes and solid | ||||
| Description | Linux Mint Maya 64 bits / Freecad 0.13R1664 My goal was to get the matrix of inertia of meshes in collada format. I merged them into Blender, but most (not all) of them were still distinct to Freecad. So I tried to unite them as meshes, and if things worked sometimes for the 1st union, I've never succeeded a union of more than 2 meshes. So I made solids of those meshes to make a union of solids : worse, the result has never been good. Then I tried to export the meshes in Freecad format and import it in freecad 0.12 (since freecad 0.12 can't import collada files), but it did not work either. | ||||

This kind of stuff mostly don't work, since meshes are very different in quality. The matrix of inertia makes only sense on a closed CAD solid. Moving a mesh to a solid is hard to to and mostly don't work. So maybe MeshLab has a methode to do the inertia matrix on a mesh.... |
