| Summary | 0000898: Distorted dxf 2dview | ||||
| Description | I have created a 3D drawing by importing a 2D dwg, and extruding it´s parts. I have changed the placement of the imported drawing so that the box is shown standing up instead of laying down. I order to make 2D plans I create 2Dviews i draft tool and export them as dxf. I change the projection of the 2dview to be x instead of z. I open the dxf in LibreCAD to dimension it. Dimensions are different in this dxf compared to the original. Either I am doing something wrong, or I have found a bug. I cannot dimension in FreeCAD because I get lots of errors, and the model starts flickering. So I have no idea where the problem is. The 3D model is attached, as well as original and exported dxf files. | ||||

hi, honestly i don't know what can have happened between the 2 dxf versions. What I can tell you is that dxf files are imported 1:1 in freecad, there is no translation, rotation or whatsoever. Same goes when exporting. I see that your second dxf file, if you zoom in very close, is not very precise... Maybe that is where the problem lies? Anyway, without seeing the freecad file, it is hard to tell. All I can tell is that the original dxf imports at correct scale in FreeCAD... Can you attach the FCStd file? |
|
|
There is no FCStd file. I just opened the dxf and made dimensions. I have checked the dxf in AutoCAD 2000. Adding dimensions in AutoCAD has the same problem. An additional problem is that the lower right corner is not easily selectable for a dimension, I had to choose intersection explicitly in order to choose it correctly. |

Okay, I'll close this report then, since I don't see anything required from us, since both submitted dxf files import correctly. Don't hesitate to reopen this issue if you can identify a problem specific to FreeCAD. |
