| Description | 1. Import a .stp object. 2. make a sketch on it to make a pocket 3. reference point on the object is nonsensical. 4. I cannot change the zero origin reference point for the object, even moving it to 0,0,0 does not help. This may be a "feature", but I doubt someone specifically asked for stupid reference point on an object. | ||||

This should have been discussed on the Help forums, of course you may have already done so by now. If I am understanding you correctly, this is not a bug its intended behaviour. There is no file attached so I can't test your specific example. You seem to be complaining that the origin of your STEP shape is not at global origin in FreeCAD. But this is defined in the STEP file itself. A simple work around it to move the imported STEP object to the desired location, then export and reimport into FreeCAD. This will change the objects origin. If you would like to discuss this further please do so in the Help forums and perhaps create a new ticket if one is required after some discussion of all the relevant issues. :-) |
