@Abdullah can you reproduce? |
This is standard behaviour. One should not open a file during sketch editing session. |
I guessed so and it should probably be this way but I think FreeCAD should tell you that if you're trying to do it. A dialog like would make it obvious to the user that he did something he/she's not supposed to do in this way. |

@kunda As per you request: It is accepted standard UI behaviour that when the program is in a special mode, the menu options that are not applicable are grayed out. A user that sees a grayed out option should assume that such option is not available, as per standard UI behaviour. Like in any other software, it is a software requirement that a user can reasonably realize what action he should undertake to exit such special mode. It is my opinion that a user in sketch edit mode has the knowledge that he is in a special mode and that there is no much searching to do to find the button to get out of this mode. As for the usage of Ctrl+O, it is to be expected that a user that uses the standard shortcut without reaching the expected goal would go to the menu and realize of the grayed out situation, so defaulting to the previous reasons. There are three points: 1. It is grayed out => it is intended, it is a feature, it is standard in special modes. 2. I receive no further feedback => it is intended, it is a feature, it is standard in special modes. 3. I can not find how to exit edit mode => this is open to opinion whether it is sufficiently clear, I think it is clear enough by little experimenting, but that is just an opinion. |
