Summary | 0000328: Support of more basic elements
Description | I think, it would be good to support more basis elements, and basis functionalities which are usefull for more than one application. surbanus said: Elements: - axis systems (interesting for CAM, Measuring, ...) - point and plane (cutting, ...) Functionality: - (show/noshow) show all invisible elements, an select the elements to change them to visible - (selection of elements) by fence, by box, ... I think, some of these functions should appear in the basic system, to be used from every application.

matthias_krauss said: Elements representing the real construction world would be helpful for anyone, and those elements being there without having to load anything would encourage new users to start exploring FreeCAD That would be: Box (as it is now), Sphere, Cylinder, and all of them with wall thickness as well, for tubes, real boxes, etc. Simple flat surface, with the possibility to drag parts up or down, to represent the terrain for architects and gardeners. Tubes following a given path, for bended tubes (more complicated, but needed very much in mech. engineering) Using such basics combined by boolean operations it would be possible to create a lot of things! Even parts usually created via extrusion of a shape may be created, maybe in a more easy way to understand and to modify, once we see constraints. Just take a sheet (box), cut off the edges (subtracting boxes), drill holes (subtracting cylinders). Matthias |

jriegel said: You both guys are right! But - unfortunately ;-) - hours day has 24 hours to. So I will concentrate first to get the base system in shape and the first test for that (sorry) will be the mesh module. After fixing this in the 0.8 release I will go on and wire the Cascade methods to the interface and script of the part module. So stay tuned... Jürgen |

matthias_krauss said: Thank You too, Jürgen, so I'm looking forward to version 0.9 :-) That probably would be the time for starting up production using FreeCAD, and spreading the news about this great project to CAD-users. Matthias |
