Summary | 0003916: Multiple solids created in same body
Description | FreeCad lets a user create two solids in the same body. I learned here that "to make two separate solids in the same body, this is not allowed by design." I do know how to avoid this problem now, but the computer should take care of it to prevent this. Background: I followed an old tutorial - still on the web here. Please refer to the attached file - it is quite simple but invalid and there is no notification about it being invalid - only strange behavior. With 2 sketches in the drawing, the first is padded and the second is revolved. The revolution for some reason includes the pad. On the attempt to disable the pad with [Space] in the model tree, the revolution first disappears, then on the next [Space] the pad disappears. When the revolution is toggled with [Space] then both the revolution and the pad appear. From this it looks impossible to only have the revolution visible without the pad. It is possible to delete the revolution and add it back again - still the same result.
Steps To Reproduce | Please load the attached file. To reproduce the problem, it is easy to create two sketches in the same body and then create solids from both of them.

I realized this is invalid because the last operation, the revolution of the sketch is implied additive and no new solid id created by the revolution. So this should be closed - I just don't know how to close this. |

Closing. JFYI, thank you for the ticket, next time please follow our guidelines in the large yellow banner at the top of the page. |
