Summary0004634: Subtractive cylinder ends up being added
DescriptionI was trying to subtract a cylinder to make a hole on an object. This worked for a few times but not this last time. It is centered around a datum line, which is rotated. It cuts through an inner cone, I generated with a revolved sketch.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. In this case, I have revolved a sketch.
  2. Subtracted a revolved sketch to generate a pocket.
  3. Made a tilted datum line.
  4. Referenced datum point for a subtractive cylinder.
  5. Polar pattern for that cylinder
  6. Another subtr. cyl. ref. on Z axis.
  7. Multitransform pattern (linear and polar)
  8. Another tilted datumline
  9. Subtractive cylinder ref. that datum line ends up either failed subtraction or parts of cylinder being added.

According to forums member Bance:


I'm afraid it's not as simple as that, there are two very poorly constrained sketches in revolve and groove, added to the fact that there is a coplanar issue, with exact dimensions for both revolve and groove.

Resolve these and the primitive pattern works OK.

I propose closing this bug, absent any more concise way to reproduce it beyond just using the original file.
